Nathan was born with Scimitar Syndrome, a rare heart condition characterized by dextrocardia, pulmonary hypoplasia, and Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. In July of 2006, his PAPVR was addressed by Dr. Edward Bove at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan Medical Center. The surgery was a success. Three months later, however we learned that he had Congenital Kyphosis, a back defect that would require spinal fusion surgery to prevent paralysis.
It's been a rough journey, but Nathan is doing great. We enjoy sharing stories about Nathan on our website, www.NathansPrayer.com. He has been a great blessing to our family.
